Should we really be afraid of Mexico?

So here I am. A 28 year old girl who moved from the states to Mexico. During my decision to move I heard nothing but horror stories of this place. But still eager to leave the states, I prepared myself for the worst. But then I got here. Fruit is cheaper then a double cheese burger from McDonalds…so people can AFFORD and DO eat healthier. The number of people “awake” here was startling! Go onto a FB page of someone between the ages of 16 and 40…yes that’s right…16-40….you know..that age of people in the states who care about nothing but sex money and drugs. You’ll find picture of people “holding” sunsets. Star gazing. Being at one with the earth. It is muy bonita. People appreciate work. They take what they can and dont sit at home playing video games until the “right” job comes along that works for THEM. The majority of men in Mexico…newly dating or married for years, still holds the door open for their woman. Tells her she is beautiful everyday. And gazes deep into her eyes as if there is nothing and no one else in the world….even as a hot woman walks right by. Family is #1. Everyone is so nice. If walking down the street a stranger drops a bag of groceries…you can bet ANY nearest person will rush over without thought and help that person out. And ok…ya. There are killings here. But where in the world AREN’T there killings? In Mexico there are drug lords who kill other drug lords…In NY, Boston, Miami…etc. People will drive by and shoot you fr no reason. I lived in a “nice” neighborhood in Orlando Florida and right in my complex a random girl was raped. A drive by shooting happened and the apartment I lived in (before I lived there) was broken into to be raided and the owner was shot and killed. So what is the states so afraid of? Maybe that we will begin to see that these people actually take care o their lives and the lives of the people around them and the earth. People here are awake. Wake up America….your going nowhere but down.
